Latest release of our 5G SA core network is now available

Madrid, November 2nd, 2023 - Summa Networks, the market specialist in Subscribers, Policy, Identity and Connectivity management solutions, has announced a new release of its 5G SA core network. This way Summa Networks continues with its commitment to the strategy of becoming the "Extended and Converged Control Plane" provider of choice for mobile operators.

Committed to Summa Networks customers' evolving needs and requests, which demonstrates its successful strategy of open roadmap and collaboration, the company is thrilled to unveil a series of enhancements and New Network Functions (NFs), highlighting the following points for this fourth quarter release:

New Network Functions (NFs):

  1. Summa Networks is proud to introduce two new Network Functions (NFs) to its already existing set, expanding the capabilities of its 5G core: UDSF (5G Unstructured Data Storage Services Function): UDSF offers advanced storage solutions for unstructured context and state information serving all Core Network Functions.
  2. NSS-AAF (5G Network Slice-Specific Authentication and Authorization Function): Designed for the Authentication Management Function (AMF), NSS-AAF is the go-to solution for network slice-specific authentication and authorization for a specific User Equipment (UE) and a specific S-NSSAI.

Summa Networks’ solution already includes; UDM/UDR, AUSF, UDSF, 5G-EIR, and the convergence to HLR/HSS, EIR, DNS/ENUM which cover Subscriber Data Management features from 2G, 3G, 4G, up to 5G-NSA. All elements are available as a single software suite, but can also be installed as stand-alone on any carrier mobile core.

Likewise, the latest elements incorporated in the portfolio are a AAA (Authentication, Authorisation, Accounting) for voLTE/voWiFi communication, a PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Function) offered in two different versions (Light PCRF for voLTE/voWIFi and a Full PCRF for data and quota management) and a PCF (Policy Control Function) to determine policy rules on, respectively, 3G/4G and 5G.

By adding together all the elements in a single software suite, Summa Networks introduced the Extended and Converged Control Plane, a key building block of a multi-generational mobile core providing interworking between 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G-NSA and 5G.

Finally, in our continuous pursuit of customers´ satisfaction, we have implemented the following key updates in our Subscriber Data Management:

  1. Enhanced Quality Assurance: QA processes now include early error detection for the Nudm_EventExposure Service API, providing more robust and reliable services including bug-fixing, performance improvement
  2. Improved Nudr_DataRepository Service API: The Policy Data handling capabilities have been enhanced to empower our clients with more efficient data management.
