SMSC

The Summa Networks SMSC Suite is a modular, cloud-native messaging platform for mobile operators — covering IoT SMS, legacy mobile messaging, and all-IP migration in a single 3GPP-compliant product.

Overview

Carrier-grade messaging for modern mobile networks

The Summa Networks SMSC Suite is a carrier-grade, modular messaging solution built for the evolving needs of mobile operators. Whether you support legacy SMS, deliver IoT services, or migrate toward an all-IP architecture, our suite offers performance and flexibility — in a 3GPP-compliant, vendor-agnostic environment.

Deployed as part of our modular Full Core or as a standalone product, the SMSC Suite is available for bare-metal, virtualized, or cloud-native (Kubernetes, Docker) deployments.

Use case 1

SMSC for IoT

Summa Networks’ SMSC for IoT is a next-generation messaging solution designed for modern IoT environments. Built for scalability, flexibility, and efficiency, it ensures reliable SMS-based communication for IoT applications across 3G and 4G networks.

Its modular design allows it to operate independently or be fully integrated with the rest of the core, including our HSS. It supports MAP, Diameter and SMPP protocols, ensuring smooth interworking with a wide range of network setups. For operational visibility, it offers integration with ElasticSearch and Prometheus, along with a webhook system and diverse KPIs to monitor performance in real time.

Ideal for: Operators offering IoT or M2M services that rely on SMS for fallback, control signalling, and messaging reliability.

High Message Throughput

Designed to process very high message volumes with consistent performance — supports bulk messaging, marketing campaigns, emergency notifications, and large-scale A2P services without impacting network stability.

Low Latency Message Delivery

Optimized routing and store-and-forward mechanisms ensure fast and predictable SMS delivery — essential for OTPs, authentication messages, network alerts, and time-critical service notifications.

Carrier-Grade Reliability

Built to meet telecom-grade requirements, the SMSC incorporates failover mechanisms to guarantee uninterrupted service and message integrity at all times.

Extended Coverage & Service Continuity

Supports both legacy and next-generation mobile networks — ensuring reliable message delivery across wide geographic areas, including roaming scenarios, regardless of user location.

Global Reach & Network Stability

Interconnected with domestic and international partners — enables reliable global SMS delivery supporting both national and international messaging services with high stability.

Cost Efficiency & High Deliverability

Efficient message routing and handling allow operators to optimize operational costs while achieving very high delivery success rates — ideal for large-scale A2P and enterprise messaging.

Use case 2

Full-Featured SMSC

A core use case for operators that need a complete SMSC platform to manage traditional mobile messaging efficiently and at scale. Our Full SMSC includes all standard SMS functions for MT (Mobile Terminated) and MO (Mobile Originated) messages, ensuring messaging continuity and robustness for both consumer and enterprise services — with flexibility to adapt to prepaid/postpaid models and roaming.

Ideal for: MNOs, MVNOs, and MVNEs requiring a reliable and flexible messaging infrastructure that supports legacy and modern demands.

Store-and-forward

With retry logic for guaranteed delivery even during network interruptions.

Delivery receipts

Full delivery receipts and status tracking for operational visibility.

Multi-protocol

SMPP, MAP, and DIAMETER support for broad interoperability.

Scalable architecture

Multi-node architecture designed to scale with traffic growth.

High availability

Built-in geo-redundancy for maximum uptime in production environments.
