Summa Networks successfully deploys its PCRF on the Whitestack Telco Cloud
Madrid, January 18th, 2024 - Summa Networks, the market specialist in Subscribers, Policy, Identity and Connectivity management solutions, is thrilled to announce that it has achieved full compatibility with the Whitestack Telco Cloud, an open carrier-class solution for orchestrating VNFs and CNFs, showcasing the Summa Networks´ commitment to technological innovation in the Cloud Native paradigm.
Whitestack is a leading provider of open solutions for Telcos. Its Telco Cloud platform is productive in tenths of Tier-1 data centers in Latin America, supporting critical voice and data telecom services, and providing a flexible, secure and cost-efficient solution for deploying multi-vendor networks. In addition, Whitestack is the largest open networking integrator in LATAM, running access, core and datacenter networks with whiteboxes.
Summa Networks and Whitestack have teamed-up to onboard the former's PCRF/PCF combo in the Whitestack Telco Cloud, and perform a number of certifications tests. This project was developed in the Whitestack/AMD/DELL certification laboratory in Santiago, Chile, to demonstrate the Summa Networks´ adherence to open standard, and hardware agnosticism.
The results have been a simple, effortless process of deployment and test of PCRF functions. Results yield by the test process can be summarized as follows:
- Summa Networks PCRF deployed as a CNF, on WhiteCruiser (Kubernetes orchestrator) on DELL PowerEdge R7525 Servers, with AMD EPYC processors.
- Resources used: 8 CPUs, 32GB memory.
- 1M subscribers provisioned.
- Both VoLTE and advanced PCRF functionalities (rules and policies, data quota management, Fair Policy, etc) were deployed and tested.
As a conclusion, Summa Networks products are ready to be deployed in any Whitestack deployment with proven feasibility and efficiency. With this cooperation, Summa Networks´ clients can seamlessly leverage the benefits of both Summa Networks´ solutions and Whitestack's network virtualization capabilities. This integration empowers telecom operators to streamline their operations, optimize resource utilization, and accelerate the deployment of new services. In turn, Whitestack broadens the number of Network Functions joining an open ecosystem of Telco solutions, leveraging their current deployments.
