Vodafone Polynésie enhances its network infrastructure thanks to Summa Networks' HSS and HLR Solution

Madrid, 24th January — Pacific Mobile Telecom (PMT), a leading Mobile Network Operator (MNO) operating under the Vodafone Polynésie brand exclusively in French Polynesia, has successfully improved its network performance and reliability through Summa Networks' HSS and HLR solution.

In a recent interview with Paul Desvignes, Core Network Manager at VDF Polynésie, he shared insights into the company's journey and the positive impact of Summa Networks' HSS and HLR on their operations.

About Pacific Mobile Telecom (PMT):

PMT is a reputable MNO with a subscriber base of approximately 150,000 users, offering mobile and fixed services under the Vodafone Polynésie brand. With a long experience in the telecommunications industry, PMT exclusively serves the French Polynesian market.

Choosing Summa Networks' HSS & HLR:

The collaboration with Summa Networks began in Q2 2019 when PMT was seeking a more cost-effective and tailored solution to replace their aging HLR equipment. Summa Networks emerged as a preferred choice due to its scalability and compatibility with the requirements of a mid-sized MNO.

Deployment and Integration:

Paul mentioned that the deployment of Summa Networks solutions, which included HLR/HSS/AUC/EIR functions, took approximately seven months. The integration and migration process was smooth, with no major issues encountered, demonstrating the seamless compatibility of Summa Network's solution with PMT's existing network infrastructure.

Improvements in Performance and Reliability:

Summa Networks' HSS/HLR significantly enhanced PMT's network stability. Paul emphasized PMT's satisfaction with the latest version, Release 4, praising its impact on their operations.

Scalability and Customer Service:

The scalability of Summa Networks' HSS/HLR has met PMT's growing subscriber base without issues. Paul commended the prompt and effective customer support.

Future Plans and 5G Readiness:

Looking ahead, PMT envisions incorporating additional Summa Networks products, such as HSS-IMS, DNS/ENUM, and PCRF/PCF for VoLTE, and preparing for 5G. While 5G-NSA has been successfully tested in a Proof of Concept (PoC), 5G-SA is not yet in their immediate plans.

Recommendation:

Paul enthusiastically recommends Summa Networks, highlighting the reliability of their HSS solution and the responsiveness of the Summa Networks´ team. He emphasized the straightforward GUI, smooth upgrade process, and the availability of the Summa Networks´ team as key strengths.
