Summa Networks’ 5G Standalone Control Plane Achieves Validation for Red Hat OpenShift, Now Available in Red Hat’s Catalog
March 19th, 2025 - Madrid, Spain. Summa Networks, a leading provider of cloud-native core network solutions, proudly announces that its 5G Standalone (SA) Control Plane has been validated to run on Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes, marking a significant milestone in cloud-native 5G deployments.
With this validation, Summa Networks’ fully modular, cloud-native 5G SA Control Plane is now validated for seamless operation within Red Hat’s Kubernetes-based OpenShift environment. This enables mobile operators, private network providers, and enterprises to deploy 5G networks with enhanced automation, scalability, and interoperability, fully aligned with 3GPP standards.
“Achieving Red Hat validation is a key step in our commitment to providing cutting-edge, vendor-agnostic 5G solutions,” said Óscar Pérez, Summa Networks' CTO. “With this validation, our customers can confidently integrate our 5G SA Control Plane into their cloud infrastructure, ensuring a future-proof, cost-effective network evolution.”
Summa Networks’ 5G SA Control Plane includes essential 5G functions such a UDM, UDR, AUSF, UDSF, PCF, and others coming soon in our Roadmap like SMSF, NRF, SCP, enabling complete 5G interoperability with other vendors Network Functions. Its software-defined architecture support multi-vendor strategies, allowing operators to deploy 5G without major infrastructure overhauls.
“Red Hat OpenShift provides a powerful, flexible foundation for cloud-native applications, and we are excited to see Summa Networks bringing its 5G core technology to our ecosystem,” said Mark Longwell, Director of Telco and Edge Alliances, Red Hat. “This validation strengthens the cloud-native telecom landscape by offering operators greater choice and flexibility in their 5G deployments.”
By leveraging Red Hat OpenShift, Summa Networks’ 5G SA Control Plane can provide automated orchestration, dynamic scalability, and seamless integration into both private and public cloud infrastructures. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to innovation, security, and high-performance networking solutions in the 5G era.
